1. When did Michels Patisserie begin Franchising?
Michels Patisserie started in 1988 with 2 company stores and began Franchising in 1990.

2. How many stores are there in Australia?
There are currently 303 with new stores opening every month.

3. How many different types of Patisserie items does Michels Patisserie produce?
We have over 200 individual items that are produced at our bakery each day ranging from danish and muffins through to large cakesand our special occasion cakes together with a range of pies and sausage rolls

4. How much is a Michels Patisserie Franchise?
Investments for a new store will range from $270,000 to $350,000 + GST for a turnkey store excluding initial trading stock. An existing store can range from $200,000 to $1,000,000.

5. Is there a Franchise royalty fee?
We have no Franchise Royalty fee, which means greater earnings for our Franchisee’s.

6. Is there a Marketing fee and what does it go towards?
Yes, currently our marketing fee is 2% of gross sales, payable monthly.

7. Is there a training program and how long does it last?
Training lasts for 4 weeks and is carried out at our training centre in South Granville, where you learn the theory and then at one of our training stores you put it to practice.

8. What support will I receive from Michels Patisserie when I take over my store?
Support will come from members of the training department during the first 8 days of operation to ensure a smooth transition from trainee to franchisee, and ongoing retail support from our Area Managers.

9. What is the length of a Franchise Agreement?
For new stores it is 10 years and an option of a further 10 years upon payment of renewal fees giving you a 20 year term. With an existing store you take over the remainder of the agreement for that store.

10. Who negotiates the Lease?
Michels Patisserie will secure the location and negotiate the lease. The lease is held by Michels Patisserie while the bank Guarantee and monthly payments are made by Franchisee.

11. Am I able to sell my Franchise?
Yes, Michels Patisserie is offered the first right of refusal and any purchaser put forward for the franchise must be approved by Michels Patisserie.

12. Are Franchisee’s expected to actively work in the store?
Yes, Franchisee’s are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week in store. This is an important factor in the success of our stores.
