Michel's Patisserie recognised the importance of quality coffee as an accompaniment to a slice of cake. Thus in 1999, Michel's Espresso, the in-house coffee roasting & training facility, was born. The aim of this company was quite simple: great coffee made available to all.

The coffee beans

Our beans are chosen based on their ability to be outstanding in the cup – regardless of price. This is the true meaning behind being a ‘specialty’ grade roaster.

Up to 50% of beans are sourced from single estates (farms), making them unique. These beans are truly the cream of the crop.

The quality
Continual study and application of new roasting techniques allow us to get the best performance from our machinery, and further, to develop the best roasting method for each origin of bean. Each of these origin beans are roasted to their optimum and blended afterwards.

Again, we go further. Blending is both a skill and an art. Constant testing and re-evaluation allows us to develop a blend of coffee which is always in evolution, with superb quality standard, wonderful aromas, and a sweet, full bodied taste.

Then we pack our coffee into oxygen free bags to allow the coffee beans to develop their character even further - much the same as good red wine.

Michel’s Espresso coffee recently won a blind taste test against America’s finest roasters by a landslide 95% at a Specialty Coffee Association of America BGA* meeting.

The great cup of coffee
The next step in the process is giving you, our customer, a great cup of coffee each and every visit. We have dedicated Baristas who are trained by world recognized coffee trainers. In fact, we at Michel’s Espresso have trained Australian National Barista Champions.
 
Through Michel’s Espresso, Michel’s Patisserie has created a special and unique coffee blend exclusive to our franchise network. This, backed by dedicated coffee training facilities and professional staff, has enabled Michel’s Patisserie to bring you the finest cup of coffee available.
